Next meeting

The Heritage Centre is delighted to welcome back "The Garnock Valley Traditional Music Group" on Friday 16th May, 7pm. Fiddle, mandolin, guitar, banjo, concertina, accordion, whistle, keyboard, vocals - all are used to play a wide range of traditional music - Scottish, Irish, English, Welsh, American, Canadian. This promises to be a thoroughly enjoyable evening.

North Ayrshire Heritage Friends Meeting
Following a successful first meeting of the new season, the group plans to take forward the following exciting new projects.

 

Firstly, Margaret Cunningham will be leading a project to commemorate the local men who died in the First World War, putting life stories and faces to the names of the fallen. Margaret initially plans to focus on the Three Towns area and anyone who wants to get involved can contact her on mhcunningham@btinternet.com.

 

Michael McCulloch will be heading up a project to find out more about the site of the second Ardrossan Parish Church and burial site of Laird Weir of Kirkhall between Stanley Road and St Margaret's Road in Ardrossan. Members who want to get involved can contact Michael on mccullochmm@aol.com.

 

Finally, would all members note that Scotland's Places are looking for volunteers to transcribe paper records electronically. Details are available at www.scotlandsplaces.gov.uk/transcribe.
